2024 Book of Mormon Timeline Poster
mercies of the lord
We are so excited to fall in love with the Book of Mormon again together!
This year we are intent on taking Moroni’s advice to “seek this Jesus.” That will be our focus this year.
One way we are going to do that is by looking for the tender mercies of Christ that are sprinkled throughout the Book of Mormon. We have selected one of our favorites from each week of study chapters and will be talking about it in our Don’t Miss This videos. We have also created this “Mercies of the Lord” poster for the Book of Mormon so we can keep track of them as we move through the story. It will act as a tender mercies timeline. Each week you will take the picture that represents a particular “Mercy of the Lord” from those chapters and place it on the timeline poster. As the year moves on, the pictures will not only remind you of the storyline of the Book of Mormon but, more importantly, of the central role that the Lord played in the storyline. As we keep track of His mercies, we hope it will enable us to better see those same mercies from that same good God playing out in our own stories.
What you need to know:
The download includes two parts: the black-and-white timeline poster and the colored pieces for each week.
BEGIN by printing the large “timeline” poster. It is designed to be a 2ft x 3ft engineer print. Most copy shops can print this size. Ask for it to be printed black and white. You may want to have the large timeline drymounted, or laminated, or put on foam backing to give it more structure. Perhaps you will hang it somewhere in your house—in the place where you do your study—or maybe you will pull it out each week for your lesson.
NEXT, print the colored pieces you will attach to the timeline week by week. The pieces are included in this four-color PDF. You can print these pages at home or at the copy shop. They print out on 8.5 x 11 paper and are designed to fit the 2ft x 3ft timeline. Some may want to print these pieces on nicer linen paper, or perhaps laminate them to keep them nice. PLEASE NOTE WHEN PRINTING THESE PIECES: you do NOT need to select “fit to page” when printing—pieces are sized to fit the outlines on the poster exactly. If “fit to page” is selected it will result in pieces that are slightly smaller than the poster squares.
NOW, cut out the colored pieces. You can do this all at once at the beginning of the year, or each week as you move through each lesson. You might want an envelope to store all the pieces in.
How do you know when and where to place each piece? Each week for the next 52 weeks, we will highlight the piece (and the lesson that goes with it) in our Don’t Miss This podcast and YouTube show. Our newsletter will also tell you which piece to place onto your timeline. The spaces on the timeline are labeled according to the dates and chapters we are studying each week. Sign up for the newsletter below. You will also be able to access the info weekly on our app.
